We are a thriving costumed group of volunteers recreating life within the Victorian Prison of Lincoln Castle.
In addition to attending all the Castles' scheduled events throughout the year, we also participate in a wide range of other events from corporate dinners to weddings in the Castle and the Lincolnshire Show. We have also assisted Lincolnshire County Council in promoting the Castle throughout the country.
We are more Living History than re-enacting. Each member portrays a real person that inhabited the prison, from Governor James Foster and his wife, the Reverend and Mrs Richter, through to male and female warders and prisoners. Members can choose which character they want to represent and are provided with basic background information on them. Many members often then conduct their own research into their Victorian incarnation to enhance their role!
Many of our costumes, were self made or produced by the sewing groups of Lincoln Castle and Gainsborough Old Hall and are designed to be authentic to the period.
We also have a robust social calendar with meals out, a summer BBQ and also visits out to other historic attractions such as Gainsborough Old Hall, The Galleries of Justice and Southwell Workhouse.
We always welcome new members so why not come along and join us?
