The ‘Friends Of Lincoln Castle’ is a registered charity, formed in 1985 and comprising
entirely of volunteers. We share a common interest in Lincoln Castle, its history,
architecture and current affairs.
Becoming a Friend allows you to take part in interesting activities and events, such
as Archery within the Castle grounds, becoming a Tour Guide for the Castle, or even
re-enacting medieval times
enacting medieval times or prison life in full costume! Anyone can join and become
a Friend - click on the Membership tab for more details.
We take an active role in the restoration of the Castle grounds too; if you enjoy
a spot of gardening or DIY in your spare time then click on the Projects tab to find
out how you can help restore the beauty of the Castle grounds.
The committee meets monthly to discuss our activities, and we co-ordinate and liaise
regularly with the Castle management and staff. Throughout the year we put on various
displays and free events for other members of the public to enjoy. Click on Events
to see what we’re doing next.
Our members give up their spare time, for free, to enrich the visitor experience
to Lincoln Castle. If you don’t feel ready to join the Friends, but would still
like to help, please consider making a donation to our charity so that we can continue
The Friends also provide speakers to come and talk to any external organisation on
and about the castle. For more information contact the Guiding Officer.
